PAT KING

Hi, my name is Kin Pat King. I was born July 10, 1972 in Chatham,NB, making me 36 years old. I am the 3rd of 6 children of Tom and Mary (McCallum) King. I have 3 brothers (two of whom are members) and 2 sisters. My Father passed away Feb. 22, 2005 and my mother is enjoying retired life after many years of raising a family and a career in Nursing.

I was employed for over 10 years at Weyerhaeuser before being laid off in February of 2007. I returned to college in September 2007, in Moncton taking Human Resource Management. I previously graduated from James M. Hill High School in 1990 and then from The NBCC in Moncton in 1992 with a diploma in Electronics. I am now a Human Resource Professional studying to achieve my certification.

I was married to my soul mate Kelly on July 5th, whom I met through Kin. We have a small home in Miramichi that is always open to our friends in Kin!

I joined the Miramichi Kinsmen Club in 1995, being sponsored by my brother Kin Tom. In the club I have held all offices except Vice President. I have previously served on the Zone Executive as Membership Director/Coordinator and was a member of the DEC in 2001-02 as Kinsmen Deputy Governor for Zone 6. I have also served two years on the National Board of Directors (2002-04) and in my second year I was the National Service Director for Kin Canada. In 2004-05 I served the District as District Membership Director and Kinsmen Vice Governor, and in 05-06 I was Kinsmen Governor, the only one from our club, winning the Decew Shield as top Governor in the Association.

Since joining the association I have won the following awards Rookie of the Year, Maple Leaf, Outstanding Maple Leaf, George Gamburg Senior Bulletin Award (2) , Kinsmen Puff, Kin Alex Stewart Memorial Kin Education Award, Joe Savoie Memorial Kin Quill (3), Zone 6 Kinsmen of the Year, Miramichi Kinsmen of the Year, the Founders Award for Achievement, Outstanding President, Outstanding Deputy Governor, Murdock MacKay Award, Hal Rogers Member Achievement Award, The Decew Shield, the 1st and 2nd District Website Award, National Website Award (2), Kinsmen Ritchie Senior Bulletin Award and National Kin Quill Award Winner . I am also the co-founder of the J & P Mirror Club!

I am very proud of all my Kin awards, however I must point out that I have National Awards for three consecutive years including three awards this past year!

I have attended 15 Spring Zone Conferences, 10 Fall Leadership Conferences, 12 District and 7 National Conventions.

After graduating from school I traveled throughout Europe eventually settling in England, where I was offered tenure at Cambridge. I then spent the next two years at the University as a professor of philosophy. It was while I was at Cambridge that I met Professor Stephen Hawking, where we quickly became good friends. As a result of this friendship we started on the lecture circuit in the United States, debating the origins of the Universe in front of students from across the country. After a little more than a year on the lecture circuit I grew tired of debating Stephen and returned to my first love, dancing.

I spent the next year and a half traveling to cities across Canada and the United States, touring with Chippendales. On a tour stop in New York City, I met Chris Farley at a party following one of our shows. We began to chat and quickly became friends, we then decided that we could make a lot of money and have a lot of fun if we formed our own dancing troupe. We decided to make it a comedy show as well and call it “The Clydesdales” as a tribute to my former employer and Chris’ size. We were very successful and had a lot of fun over the next year. After Chris’ untimely death I decided to end the show and return to a quiet life at home on the Miramichi.

It was then that I joined the Miramichi Kinsmen and I haven’t looked back. Although some days I do miss life on the road, those of you who know me, know I still love to dance. In addition to being one of the top dancers in District 7, I am also ‘DEADLY SEXY’.

I hope this brief summary of my life helps every one to know me a little better, and I hope to serve you as your next Service Director! ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

District Coordinatorcoord

Barb Yorke - Joined Sackville Kinette Club in spring of 1991

- Worked on the National Committee 1991 “Eastern Breeze” hosted in Halifax. As a new member I was immediately impressed by the depth and width of this Association. The volunteerism and ‘joie de vivre’ demonstrated by members was an inspiration to a ‘volunteer junkie’ who finally found a group where she really fit in.

- I was pleased to meet Founder Hal at that conference and during our conversation was impressed with his interest and caring for the Association and its members. Even in his advanced age, he was still a vibrant and enthusiastic Kin member. As a seasoned Kinette, I now realize how lucky I was to sit and chat with Hal Rogers.

- Kin Canada allows its members to advance as far as they were willing to go. Whatever effort and dedication you put forth is returned tenfold. I have had the great pleasure of serving on Club, Zone District and National Executives.

- During my years as a Kin member, I have travelled from coast to coast and cherish many fond memories of the good times and people I have met along the way.

- The Sackville Kinettes honoured me with my Life Membership on April 24, 2004. It was a very exciting yet humbling experience and I thank them for their thoughtfulness.

- As a Kin member of 19 years, I still enjoy participating in projects and attending conferences.

- In 2010 I have come full circle while working on the Kin National Convention Committee once again. I enjoy welcoming members from across Canada to District 7 as we celebrate our 90th Anniversary .

- Still dedicated and having fun after all these years!! ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

I joined the Kinsmen Club of Havre Boucher in the fall of 1987. I have held most executive positions at least once and have held several more than once. I was awarded the outstanding Maple Leaf Award in 1988. In 1996 I left Kinsmen due to work commitments. In 2002 I was missing the Kin fellowship that I had experienced in earlier years and decided to rejoin Kin. I joined the Antigonish Kinsmen Club. I served as Zone Treasurer for the Team of Deputy Governors Tom Montrose and Tamara Smith in 2005 – 2006. At Fall Leadership in 2009 with a vacancy in the Deputy Governor position for Zone C I was asked to assume the position. I decided to take the challenge. At Spring Zone at the Pictou Lodge in April there were no candidates for the position of Deputy Governor so I decided to accept the nomination. I am looking forward to serving Zone C again this year under the helm of Governor Brenda.

In 2004 I joined First Canadian Title as a Title Searcher where I cover the North Eastern Region and part of Cape Breton Island. I enjoy my job and it gives me flexibility to be able to work around Kin.
